If yours is a Lionel O72 switch made circa 1990, you have my blessings. They had a lot of issues! I actually put one in the trash to avoid passing frustration on to someone else in the hobby! Ross makes replacement switches with the same footprint. If I were building a layout with tubular, that's what I would use. Life is too short to drink bad wine!
