Find an MTH service center by looking on the web cite www.mthtrains.com
They have 3volt boards that will directly plug into the 5 volt harness but you will have remount the new 3 volt boards, replace the battery with a 3 volt battery and replace speaker too.
About a 225.00 investment if you do it yourself.
