West acquisition is a pre-war crossing gate. These gates are more to scale then the larger ones made after the war but which were also made prior to WWII. These smaller gates are quite impressive. There is even an adjustment for the arm. When I first powered it up, the gate would not lower but the bulb lit. After I adjusted the spring, photo 3, the gate lowers perfectly.
I also have an MTH remake with dual gates. I wonder why Lionel chose not to make these after the war ?
