I'm having a hard time trying to picture what you are doing. My first thought on this writing was shelf work, like that of Trainman Televison's 1/20.2, but then you seem to be talking about some kind of mid-room level. And then, about the SUV, back before I had my pickup I had 77 full size Oldsmobile, wagon, I used mainly for pulling my boat. (better for pulling out of water, because of extra weight on the back wheels) but it had a bed that I did have a four by eight piece of plywood in/on so that I could put a couple of bails of hay on , when taking my buddy's horse to the races.
