Can I Run 042 Trains on 036 Atlas Curves?

I imagine this has been posted before but I'll ask again. Every time I'm tempted by a scale MTH or Lionel steam engine I'm dissuaded by the 042 minimum curve rating that many of these engines have since I have 036 Atlas. I have a found a couple with 031 or 036 ratings but there's a lot more variety out there in 042. Has anyone run 042 rated engines on 036 Atlas track?
