Reply to "GGD UP Heritage Fleet announced - with tenders!"

The tenders will be diecast with add-on details with die cast trucks.  This is what I get for assuming and not confirming first.  Scott shared that with me this morning, so I am amending my post.

From my experience, I don't think there is any real consistency regarding the length and composition of cars for any given use of the Excursion Train.  When the train came to Phoenix in 2011, I did not do as good a job of documenting the cars as I did the 844 itself, but it wasn't a long train.  It ran from Tucson to Phoenix with 6 passenger cars and the tool car.  As you can see in the photos the auxiliary tender was behind "Feather River", and the SP heritage unit ran on the rear.  All I am saying is that there are lots of consists that can be made that are prototypical as this train also serves in its main function as an executive train.

These photos were from November 12, 2011, in what started as a cloudy day.  Luckily the light got better as the train made its way from downtown Tempe to Phoenix.  A very memorable experience for me!

Running north in Tempe just east of the ASU Campus through some older neighborhoods.  The train is just about to cross University Avenue.

Coming off the Salt River Bridge before making the turn east into Phoenix proper.  The power car on this train was "Howard Fogg" car 209 and is the 3rd car back from the tool car.
