Lionel 135w Powerhouse & DCS

I have 2 135w Lionel Powerhouse bricks that I would like to use with my new DCS system. I was wondering however if the circuit protection built into the bricks is adequate protection for both the DCS unit and the engines. ( I am installing TVS at various locations around the layout). Given the cost of this stuff I want to be sure I have as much protection as feasible.
