Well, I took that leap and did my first attempt at repairing ribbon cable and it has worked. The item I used to fix the cable is the is the low heat solder with heat shrink on either end. Worked beautifully and tested out perfect. I have seen these used in weapons and aircraft maintenance so knew they are pretty reliable. These are no where near the spec of those requirements, but I highly recommend them for ease of use and functionality for our hobby.
