Just a follow -up on my effort to get my recent train show find ( 1946 #671 engine) up and running. Special thanks to all those Forum members who chimed in with tons of advice. I learned quite a bit in the process of disassembly & assembly and using your information. What I finally found was the culprit was a bad soldered joint in the rear if the engine. The outer connection which I believe went to the smoke unit/light, e-unit and the plug at the rear of the engine. My only issue now is that the engine will only go forward. There now is no reverse or neutral. Any advice out there as to where that problem could be. Is it possibly a bad part in the e-unit? The best part was the excitement when the #671 took numerous trips around the layout, even though it was forward only. A major success to my ongoing efforts to salvage my Train Show find. Special shout out to all those who helped. Thanks. DAN
