On your 3462 I would check the insulation on the wires coming from the sliding shoes. The insulation has dry rotted and a bare wire could be touching the metal frame. On the Lionel Cola car, also check the sliding shoe for a bare wire touching the coupler plate. Also check for jammed cans in the cars.
