Lionel Sunshine Special offering

The Lionel Volume 2 2018 catalog includes 8 cars for the Sunshine Special which departed St. Louis with service to Los Angeles, Louisiana, and Mexico City. There is a very nice narrative in the catalog about this train and it points out that the consist was constantly being changed with various cars from the MOP and T&P. Unfortunately for Texas and Pacific fans for this set you get 4 cars marked MOP and 4 cars marked Sunshine Special. The whole train comes in at $1680 with the 4 mop cars costing $800 and 3 marked Sunshine Special plus one generic Pullman which come in at about $880. There is a pretty mountain offered in Mop livery for $1300. Grown up trains at grown up prices!

The little historical squib they give also mentions the extension to the Pennsy in 1946 as the Penn-Tex, later evolving into the Eagle. As a TP nut I might buy the obs and Pullman and the RPO which I could get out at $560 for... Aggh...

$400 for the station sounds diner... Lil' much, IMO.
