My complaint is with the LED leads, they are basically a scale 5" cable going up into the bottom of the class lamps to feed the LED. Lionel isn't the only one to spoil the looks of their smokebox fronts though, MTH and 3rd Rail are just as bad. On my heavy mods, I usually snuff the markers and class lamps and plug the lead holes. I'm not sure what I will do with this model yet. This and the Legacy Y3 I just got both suffer the same indignities to their smokebox fronts. I bought some fiber optic 'light pipe' to play with. Maybe drilling out the back of the class lamps and routing the fiber optic straight out could work. May try it on the Y3 first as that is the next project heading into the Northbrook shops.
