Need advice on Roadbed for new Layout

Hi Forum Friends,

My son and I are building a new table layout in our basement and retiring an older FastTrack layout in our attic. We are in the process of building the benchwork now, and will be using 3/4" MDF as the bottom layer and painted 3/4" Homasote as the top layer for the table. We are planning on using Atlas nickel silver track and Ross switches. One question I realized I don't have an answer for is the best choice for a roadbed for the track. I know there are cork-like products and flexible rubber-ish products, but I was hoping for some advice from the forum experts on what's best/easiest/quietest to use. I'd really appreciate your collective input and opinions. We will be ready to put down roadbed in about a month or so, so it's time to think about it now. Thanks in advance for your help!
