The trucks have uncoupling tabs that are the same height as any Lionel or K-line car with uncoupling tabs to be used with a magnetic uncoupler. The 4 reefers you are talking about, do they short out to the center rail. If your trucks are bad you can contact the dealer you purchased them from and they should be able to get you replacements.
