Reply to "Phoenix Railways Aluminum Passenger Cars"

It must have been Bob Herrick I met set up once in the main building at the fairgrounds in the Wheaton  (Chicago) show.  Whoever it was implied that he was not well.  The cars there were offered by a little shop that was not a train shop, north of there in the Chicago area, but that shop set up in the same building, at a table right

next to that of Jim Flynn, a well known Marx collector and dealer, who developed the

"New Marx".   I ordered at least two cars made up for the D&RGW Yampa Valley Mail, including an RPO and, I think, an observation (I put them away and haven't dug them out for some time).

The Yampa Valley Mail was a train that ran up into north central Colorado, usually

powered by one Alco PA, but other power was seen, and a couple of passenger

cars, but more if required.  I later bought some unlettered Phoenix cars off eBay

when his partner was selling them out.
