Reply to "SD35 Chessie stops dead"

“MTH PS3 20-21754-1 purchased in 2024 has caused me issues. From the first time on the track stutter stall stop, and then a forward truck locks. An extended time at Lexington repair and then the stutter, stall, stop returns. I learn from repairman to fix a Gargraves track problem.
I had to add crossover connections from outside rail to inside rail at several points on the track layout.  After the power to the rails are uniform the engine begins to operate as it should. The WTIU  DCS system ran the engine without any issues several days.

Tuesday night while SD35 running several minutes, the engine dies. Stops without a sound or any warning. The TIU green lights turned White.
I turned everything off and quit.

Tonight with WTIU green lights I attempted to designate the SD35 to the engine active on the App.   Didn’t work.
I tested the WTIU with a second MTH engine. This second MTH engine works fine.”

@Vernon Barry-

As I mentioned in my initial post

the SD35 20-21754 gave me terrible problems each time I attempted to run the engine until I added transformer power to the inside rails.   For some reason adding the crossover wires to the layout improved the engine operation. But did not cure the engine problem.

then the engine quit.
After reading several of the Forum comments and information regarding the 2/3 rail switch, I examined the operations switches under the hood and discovered the option to switch to DCS mode.
the engine immediately responded to all the digital operations commands.  The engine has run properly ever since the first day I changed the switch to DCS.
