The exact same situation happened to me, back when I started wiring the layout. One "older" Z4000 and one much "newer" Z4000. I contacted MTH, and gave them the serial numbers of the two different transformers. The man quickly informed me which serial number to return for "repair" and that was the end of the phaseing problem.
