As someone who has been attending York since 2002 John, I can see where you are coming from in your first time experience. The manufacturer reps are usually very friendly and helpful and if you go there with the goal of finding certain roadnames or something specific, there is a good chance you will find what you want and usually at a good price.
After you've been there a few times you'll learn where it pays to spend your time depending on what you are searching to find. Of course you will also meet a lot of familiar names from the forum and if you go to the OGR Forum Meeting at the Grandstand on Friday afternoon you will also have an opportunity to hear from the various manufacturers and reps and learn all about the newest trends and products coming to market.
It is tough to see everything in one day as you've found out!
