Reply to "Traction problem with Lionel S-3"

I have 072 curves with 2.9 percent grades, I noticed the Lionel heavy weights 6 wheel trucks do not roll as friction free as most rolling stock. I can pull 6 heavywieghts or 25 scale reefers before she starts to slip.

I have noticed the following.

The S-3 is a lighter engine than most of the 4-8-4's produced by Lionel.
On 072 gargraves track, the blind drivers leave the rail, thus loosing some grip
slipping is only occurring on curves
Becareful adding oil to the drive rods, too much will transfer to the rear drive traction tires.
