I'm too clumsy to wear boots on a layout. I'd crush everything. I only put the flops on for the video. I usually go barefoot because my bare feet can better feel when I'm stepping on something I shouldn't be stepping on. I'd rather hurt my feet from time to time than crush a switch motor housing or a signal or something. I didn't drop anything on my foot, I jammed it into the side of the layout table while climbing around.
