Well I guess that the Rock Island is more "mid" west than far west, but here is the mighty Marx Rock Island Alco S-3 diesel from 1962. This engine uses Marx's remarkable visual "trick", its an 8 wheel locomotive but a 4 wheel drive system and the 4 driven wheels are in the middle!
