z4001 often loses connection to the z4000

gentlemen, I use Z4001's to get walk around control on my large conventional layout. They seem to lose connection to the Z4000's quite often. I noticed that if I get a text on my phone while in the basement it seems to happen. Could that even remotely be the actual issue? Would love to create a "No Cell Phone" policy but that seems extreme.
