Marty that chair was a problem all night for lou and patrich so I took care of it. And I forgot to tell lou about the dirt mistake I made in front of YOU.

Oh yeah thats what I am talking about! Keep the posts coming! Your basement looks incredible!
I love to see what men like yourself get done. It blows away the posts from people stating my wife won't let me do this or my wife won't let me do that.
well said, marty. btw louis, a great start on the layout.jim
Thanks for all of the comments guys. I appreciate it. Sorry if anyone was offended with the pictures of my "STUFF" and felt the need to talk about money.... I was only trying to share in the journey to the railroad. I also feel compelled to tell you guys that I grew up broke with nothing. As did my wife. I lived in a ran down home and our roof leaked when it rained. EVERYTHING we have I worked hard for. NO ONE gave it to me. And I am very appreciative of what I have and where I come from. Or maybe Im confused about the money statements and the context has been lost because were typing instead of talking. Either Way.....All this stuff here is just stuff.... and So what I think is Ill start a new thread with just the layout info and if anyone is interested in following it then that would be great.......
I'm going to follow it .....YOU did good.
Seriously is that chandelier from a hotel lobby? LOL!
@Marty, this is Heather...lol!! no its actually from Pottery Barn kids, i can never get the hotel ones unhooked quick enough before the security catches me Ladders in the lobby tend to attract a lot of attention.
Heather,
I have read recently that Marty is not as scary as his picture leads you to believe. hee
Louis,
Great project ignore the ignorant comments and ENJOY!

Hey, Lou!
Patrick had emailed me a question regarding Atlas track spacing for your layout (reply sent) and I was eager to see some pictures of your work in progress. Thanks for posting them and including your family!
Looking at the pictures of Patrick at work brings back memories of the pictures he posted a little over two years ago, when he started his layout. Now I am going to keep track of your progress, and time it, so you have to keep us up-to-date. (Judy is following up too, BTW. )
How about posting the track plan so everyone can take a stab at it?
When you get your layout almost done (never done, right!) someone will come around and will tell you, “No, you didn’t build that – it’s too nice.”
Thanks for sharing –
Alex
AWESOME!!! Fantastic work all around and great to see how the Forum members are helping one another with projects so we all can enjoy our layouts. Keep us posted on the progress.
It would be great to see a video or two once the trains are running.
Keep up the top notch work!!!
Lou,
Great job, and thanks for the journey, I enjoyed the backstory. You should be proud. Looking forward to seeing your layout progress. Good luck.
Andy
Lou you Dag are doing agreat job. Keep up the good work.

Thanks! Its not a question of anyone having my back its just miserable nonsense is all it is. Im not like that. Im happy for everyone and their story. Im no hater. I cant imagine that this is happening on a train forum. I would expect my daughter and her 13 yr old friends acting like that on facebook thats all... Not here
That's some serious git'r dun right there. Looking forward to watching the progress. Thanks for posting.
Looks great Louis! Love the basement! Hanger ceiling came out great!! Wish I had more walls to make display cases like that. I will just have to make nice cases along sides of my layout.
Louis, looks like you are off to a good start.
Looking forward to see how the layout progresses (translation: I expect to see a lot of pictures ).
Andy
I expect to see chandeliers above the entire train layout. And I know where you can some dirt for cheap!
BTW will the kitchen have Gray Poupon?
Looking fantastic so far! Makes me want to rip mine up and start over! And I agree with what others said; just ignore the curmudgeons b****ing away about whatever amount of money you've spent. It's your money, do whatever you darn well please with it (and of course with the wife's additional approval, lol).
Someone earlier mentioned having some sound deadening material on your layout to cut down on the noise, and I agree that's the way to go. Homasote is the popular one to use, at our club layout we used Pergo flooring insulation to isolate noise, and while it's more expensive I personally think it works better than Homasote. As you're a contractor you might easily be able to get hooked up it pretty economically.
Heather,
I have read recently that Marty is not as scary as his picture leads you to believe. hee
Without his meds, he is pretty scary
I applied a bit of "selective editing" to this thread to keep things headed in the right direction. Louis has one heck of a project going here, and I want to enjoy seeing things develop every step of the way.
Besides, I live just an hour from Pittsburgh and hope I get an invite to the open house and golden spike ceremony!
Thanks Allan. Your more than welcome to come down once I'm done in a couple of days. LOL!!
@ the guys who mentioned the sound deadening layer it looks like Im going to go with the quite brace. Thanks for the suggestion. Any other suggestions would be great as the layout progresses.
Louis,
You're doing a wonderful job!
Cannot wait to see the layout progress.
