I just bought a steam engine that has no visible mfg ID on it, its bare metal (no paint) and very heavy, shell is some type of metal. grayish /silver in color, the truck wheels were not attached but I believe it is a 462 and I have them . I haven't taken any pics yet . has anybody ever heard of an engine that may resemble this description ? any idea's would be greatly appreciated, this came out of an old warehouse building . Thanks

Photos would help, and estimate of era. Postwar, modern??? Description too vague to answer!
Both Lionel and MTH make locomotives that are unpainted. Lionel calls them pilot models. MTH calls them something else, but they should be branded on the bottom.
Maybe you have an unfinished model from All Nation, KTM, or some other manufacturer.
Why even guess at this point?
If I said, "I bought a car with no ID on it. It has four wheels, four interior seats, body is metal and painted blue. Any idea what auto it is?" what would your reaction be?
You haven't even specified that it's O gauge.
Post a photo and specify dimensions, at the very least.
