Might it be a warehouse with interchangeable signs? Like the prior engine house? A sign for good year and a sign for Lennox
what ever it is, its going to be GREAT !!
OK, how about yes or no to this question:
Did the item make a pick up in the Texas Panhandle?
Well .....Its 6/9 ? what is it already :-) haha
I purchased the wonderful deal for a set of coal hoppers from Menards. Fine looking hoppers and a wonderful price point!
I have Ross turnouts and Hi-Rail track. When the Menard hoppers cross over a wye on my layout the trucks produce a short. It appears the wheels in the trucks have a good amount of play and movement. I don't want to use the hoppers for a static display because they are very great looking. Other than replacing the trucks is there a solution?
Has anyone experienced this? Is there a solution?
Thanks in advance for the advice.

Anyone know why there is no shipping to home on any of the O scale stuff ? I would love to give Menards my money but i'm not driving 4 + hours to the nearest store...

Railfamily11,
This looks to be an issue affecting the whole website. We are hoping it will be fixed shortly.
Thank you for you patience!

Menards shipped to my home in California, I was very pleased. Great deals if you ask me.

I replaced the trucks with MTH trucks on my single Menard's car as my entire layout is Ross switches and I couldn't go over one without a fireworks show. I've heard of this "issue" from others here as well.

Just because we all want to know...what is the scale on the truck?
SJC,
What was the make of the three rail truck you used as a replacement? MTH was a variety of trucks for sale?

I just used the standard Railking 3 rail trucks. Beware, at $20 or more a pop (plus shipping), plus the hassle of getting them to properly mate to the Menard's product, (to me at least), isn't worth the cheap purchase price of the Menard's item.
I do hope Menard's will consider separate sale of the trucks (automobile trucks) that they've decorated in Santa Fe and Military colors. I know I'd like to have one of each in Military and Santa Fe.
Just when we thought everybody was heading toward the pure 1/4" scale market, Menards has literally re-awakened interest in the traditional O-Gauge market with rolling stock at unbeatable prices. They're bringing an entirely new value proposition to our hobby, and I absolutely love it!!!
I think an increasing number of folks here -- myself included -- are simply tired of paying inflated prices just to support all the excess baggage of an importers bloated cost/expense structure. How much longer are folks gonna continue paying $1200+ street-price for steam locomotives (which is now on the cheap side), when those gems don't even generate a tidbit of interest when we list them here on the for-sale forum for $795 (with less than an hour's track-time)???
Bring on more of these great pieces of rolling stock and accessories, Menards!
David
Sigh, how am I going to sneak this past the Mrs.....
Now the BIG question:
Were there any REAL GY boxcars?
Looks like I am going to go the the world's largest maker of tires in terms of numbers to put into these cars!

Mark, is the Lennox truck entirely diecast metal, or just the cab?
Very nice cars! But unless I missed it, I still don't know what scale the truck is!
Thanks :-) . Just placed an order ... Hope all goes well... Will definitely be ordering again in the near future....
What I would love to know is: who paid who for those boxcars, Menards to Goodyear, or Goodyear to Menards? Was this licensing or advertising? If I'm a manufacturer or seller, I'd be willing to pay to be on the side of Menards' rolling stock if the numbers are there.

The box graphics (made in China) say 1:64 scale but it seems larger and also seems to go well with O27 equipment.
Both the cab and trailer box car heavy die cast. The cab measures 5-1/4”L x 1-7/8”W x 2-5/8”H and the trailer measures 8-3/8”L x 1-5/8”W x 2-5/8”H. This is a very nice die-cast item!

CORRECT! There is a Lego store here in Houston on the upper level of the Galleria. There is a "store" in the back with the back bins. Lots of tires, fencing, and possible scrap loads!
I think there should be a third boxcar for the "rubber match"!
If the box says the truck is 1:16 scale, then it's larger then O-27.

Bob,
Good catch. The box says 1:64.

My point exactly. If we were to rely on a prototype for demand drivers, then I would not have my lionelville water tower, Menards Army Box Truck (Isuzu), John Deere Train, or Polar Express Caboose. Thank God for imagination, craftsmanship, and as RogerPete puts it - the " Just Because" factor.
My son is 6 years old and was born with Down Syndrome and we all proudly wear the awareness colors of blue and yellow. This boxcar is a perfect match.
I am about to buy Lego tires as well to outfit the Goodyear goodies.

Noone's arguing with you. Your initial initial response was based on your conclusion that a person's observation about the cars not being prototypical meant that the person felt there wasn't a market for non-prototypical cars. However, your conclusion was completely incorrect.
