2001 Lionel Chessie system 3849 Gp-38

I believe I need a new motherboard, the horn works, but the locomotive will not go forward or reverse and if you leave it on the track long enough, it just starts to smell hot. Would really like to get this o27 dual can motor locomotive going again to run on my o27 Inner Circle. Thanks, Brian
