990 won't stop!

Try some compressed air in the BRAKE/BOOST rocker switch.

With mine when I apply the brake, it does not do anything to the throttle wheel. That (at least on mine) needs to be throttled down to a complete stop. Otherwise, when the brake is released the locomotive will start moving back up to the speed at which it was last set. Look at the speed graph in your CAB-2 Remote's display. You will see your speed setting line stay where it was when you applied the brakes.

in the CTC menu you can change that so once you brake it stays there. Page 49 of the current manual. "Hold Brake Speed". 

If I remember correctly the CAB1 brake worked the same. You would brake, it would stop, then start again

maybe they are running in cab1 mode?

The oddity is, with R100 mode and ERR stuff, the brake will stop and stay stopped, but the graph returns to the previous speed.  Only when you move the wheel will it take off again.
