I inquired a while back about numeric button problems with a CABI. I followed the recommendations from the group, and that problem is resolved. Now I have another CABI with a throttle which does nothing. First replaced the batteries. All other functions work. I opened it up and tried blowing canned air through the throttle mechanism. No effect. Is there a way to take that portion of the CAB apart, and what service processes should I try?

The optical wheel is not easily serviced without a dual-trace oscilloscope.
Are you certain that the little PC board is properly inserted into the mounting recesses in the case?
By the way, I would dearly love to obtain a CAB1 back cover that I can cut holes into to permit me to probe and test the circuit while that board is properly held in place. Does anyone have a unit that is physically damaged, but has a good back shell?
I have had a similar problem with the red throttle which is loose and with poor response. I anxiously await a repair recommendation. I got a suggestion a long time ago which I have since misplaced. Help!

I'm not clear as to whether Dale is saying he doesn't service CAB 1 units, or that the dual trace scope is something not many service people would have. Does Dale actually service CAB 1s? If not, is there anyone else that can do these?
I'm pretty sure Dale services the CAB1 units, and I'll bet he has a dual-trace 'scope as well.
Note that he's looking for a old unit to cannibalize to make a test fixture, I doubt he'd go to that trouble for one or two of them.
Yes, I have repaired over a dozen CAB-1s for folks - using my dual trace scope.
