ab switch for a transformer ?

Does any know if theres and ab switch so i can hook two transformers for one track ? iam running dcx remote but if i want to run my post war engine i will have to switch to a different transformer so and ab switch would work if they make such a thing.

This may seem like a silly question but why not use the other transformer all the time?

Usa a spdt (single pole double throw) toggle switch rated for 8 amps or more.
Connect the track center rail to the center tap of the switch, TIU output to one outside switch tap, and transformer to the other outside switch tap. If you get a spdt center off switch, you can turn the track off with the toggle switch.

Atlas O makes an HD (heavy duty) Selector which has 4 single pole double throw with center off switches which can be used for 2 cabs or 2 transformers.

As originally asked by Gandalf97, "Why not use the same transformer for each?" If you connect a variable output transformer to the input of a DCS TIU the fixed outputs will follow the input voltage and the variable outputs will also if they are programmed to fixed operation. Or you can run the TIU in passive mode and not worry about it.

You could also just use the Variable Channel outputs and control the Conventional engine with the DCS remote Via the Track control button.

Tripzero,
What you really want is a Z4K with a side receiver & DCS TIU with hand held remote control, so that you can run both Conventional Engines and DCS Controlled Engines on the same tracks at the same time, a way cool set up with the right technical equipment.

Until recently, I was still using some on the layout with original white porcelain bases and solid copper contacts - really retro!
