With 2 regular dcs hand helds and one samsung 7inch tablet to run my mth trains. Last night I realized that I had not added any of my mth steamers to my tablet. I have been running desiels a lot lately. I also have been running my legacy desiels with the dcs wifi app also via the legacy base and ser2. With no problems.

Last night though I went to run my mth railking ps3 imperial n@w j loco. Thats when I realized I had only added my desiel engines to my tablet no steamers. My two dcs handheld remotes have all my mth engines loaded into them. Both my steamers and my desiels. I have a deticated programing track on my layout too add my dcs engines.

I put my mth ps3 steamer on my programming and tryed to add it to my tablet via the wifi app. The app said no new engine found everytime I tryed to add it. I then grabed my two dcs remotes and deleted the steamer from both of them. The steamer was on address 7 in the two remotes, but on my tablet adress 7 has a lionel legacy engine on that spot. So thats why I deleted the steamer from the two dcs handhelds.

I though starting from scratch as if I never had this engine before would do the trick. So I then tryed to add the steamer to the tablet via the wiu wifi first. Still got no new engine found on my tablet. Tried about 4 maybe 5 trys. Then tryed to add 1the ps2 steamer to my 2 dcs handhelds. They added on those just fine. Going back back also to being on address 7 like I had never deleted them. So I was right back to square one where I started.

Am I doing somethig wrong in the way I am adding my mth engine or possibly in the order of wich remote gets the engine added to first? What am I missing here?

if you have a separate TIU for the test/setup track your need another wiu.

Thanks for the help guys.

Joe, after thinking about it for a while over dinner. I belive you maybe right. I was going to delete the legacy engine from my tablet, but did not want to reload it again. That was yesterday. You just reminded me tonight that via the wifi app you can change the engine address. This I belive as you stated is the answer. I am going to try it in a few minutes. I will post back here if it worked.

I have so manny engines I may just keep my desiels on one tablet and get a second tablet for my steamers. This will help when scrolling down the engine list. It will not be so congested with names. Belive me I plan on getting more desiels for my collection and future layout. I am focusing on the bnsf and some branch line rock island locos currently. My steam roster is almost complete unless an engine I like comes along very cheap.

With the price of good used 7inch tablets out there. I may get two more just for running trains. Two deticated for desiels and one for steam. This way operators who dont have a smartphone or the wifi app can tun locos. I plan on having enough physical legacy and dcs controllers as my buget will allow also for operators who will be running trains on my future layout once it is completed. This is because I know some guys would rather have a physical remote. I know I prefer a remote when using my switchers and the tablet for mainline trains. With the wifi operators can bring and use there phones if they wish. I have 2 legacy cab2's and two dcs remotes currently plus the tablet for operators when they come over. That is enough controllers for me for now.

I thought you could change the remote address. You can only change the engine's address in the engine settings screen.

If persay in the engine list you would like your engines listed it a particular order. Like say desiels first in the list then steamers listed or say you have two maybe three or more engine types. they just have different road numbers or names. I have two bnsf ac6000 desiels in  which I lash up a lot,but still need to access them individually to adjust things. Having the ability to organize your engines in the engine list would be helpfull. This way if you have a lot of engines it makes finding certain ones easyer.  Can this be done and if so how?

Roger,

Can this be done and if so how?

It can be done, easily, for all DCS engines by simply editing their DCS ID#'s in the DCS Remote's System Menu/Engine Setup/Edit Engine/Edit Engine Address, or in the DCS App's Engine Settings Screen.

However, you cannot do the same for TMCC or Legacy Engines. In their case, you can only edit the TMCCLegacy ID#.
