I'm going. Four buildings full of trains. Yes, mostly HO but there's O also. I would start in the Better Living center building. work that one and then travel out to other buildings.
check out my thread, link listed below.
Photo op in front of the OGR booth at 2pm both days in the Better Living Center.
My first time going to this show, is there a snack bar or any place with seating? My wife is coming with me and no way is she walking around looking at trains for more than 5 minutes :-)
There are multiple snack bars......
The Better Living Center and Stroh building have food stands with limited seating. The Young Building has a restaurant. The Mallary Complex has places to eat. In the BLC, Young, and Mallary there are usually grandstands with seating areas.
By the way Amherst is spelled with an "e" not an "h", but in speech the "h" is silent - Pronounced "Amerst"
If you come up to Amherst, you can buy a T-shirt "Only the h is silent"

Thanks for the snack bar info. I can gain weight while buying trains :-)
When you have over 10,000 viewers/vendors at a show, people get hungry.
There was a time when you could just walk across the street and get something to eat. But years ago they started locking the gates and if you wanted real food you have to get in your car and drive somewhere. Your parking pass is good for all day so at least you don't have to pay twice to park.

Bill, if you can hold out until it's time to leave (or you want to take a lunchtime break) I highly recommend this place. It's right down the road from the Expo Fairgrounds. Great place for a burger.
Gary,
You never got back to me about borrowing my ballast spreader. Want it?
My observation of the Amherst train show Jan 31, 2016. I got there as soon they opened up at 10:00 am. The crowds where the nice family type with children. Not too many deals at all. The deals I did find where for items I already had so no joy. I was hoping to run into someone from the forum and that did not happen. I did see the Trainworld crew filming and interviewing the various vendors. Lots and lots of Ho items and layouts some them very nice. I did stop at a few tables, Charlie Ro, our table OGF, Trainz, Ross Custom Switches (really nice folks), Mega Steam, MTH, Lionel and various others. I had my heart set on purchasing a second hand MTH GG-1 30-5116-1 or 30-5118-1 in C-8 condition or better, no joy. I did purchase some second hand PRR MTH freight cars from Grzyboski Train Store. I was pleasantly surprised by the Mallary Complex set up. They basically had that area set up for young children with clowns, and various other actives. I was hoping that there would be more O Gauge vendor there at the show specifically Hennings and Trainworld. Will I go back maybe but not anytime soon due to various family obligations.
You missed the OGR photo oop at 2pm. Good twenty of us from the forum showed up. Still waiting for Ed to post the pic. Several O gauge vendors from years pass did not attend this year. Rumor has it, the show is getting to expensive for some.
Friend of mine went Sat, very crowded seems some of the vendors he was interested in had fewer tables, big O scale layout no longer there [this modular layout had been for sale last year] I had been with him at this show several years ago and he was disappointed this year doubt he will go again. just saying.

YEs, I guess I missed it too! a Lot going on at that show!
I did take a friend who models in HO and he loved the all the bells and whistle on the new stuff at the show. He is returning from an absents for over twenty years from the hobby. I was just hoping for better deals on things on my wish list. I did not know about the photo op. I would loved to meet some of you folks and say hello and thank you. The next two show I am planning on attending is the Wayne, NJ train show and I am planning on going to York on April 16, 2016.
Nvocc5 I would consider going to the Allentown PA show at the fairgrounds. A much bigger and better show than the Wayne show.
York is the Super Bowl of trains show from what I understand. The Wayne show is a High School football game. For me the Wayne show is about an hours drive from me. I can take the four year and the wife for a short trip to see the show in Wayne. I plan on going to York show on April 16, 2016.
