They made a second run and it says they changed the animation pattern. As beautiful as this sign is, the animation is nothing like the real thing. The real one in pittsburgh, the ketchup bottle fills up the letters of Heinz. Before I go ahead and buy one of the new ones, what was the animation like on the first run of them?

I have the original one. The bottle empties in something like 6 or 7 steps and the Heinz letters "fill up" congruent to the bottle emptying.
I tried to find a picture of it half and half but don't have one, sorry.

Thanks, what you are describing is pretty much what the real one does, the new one's animation doesn't do it justice, I'll pass on the remake and try to find an original.
I contacted Miller Engineering when I got pcboards mixed up and could not get any of my signs to cycle correctly. There is a swith on the board that you can push/reset that will change the sign cycle pattern. I do not know if this will fix your issue but it may be worth a try.
Miller changed the Heinz sign from one with 8 display segments
to one with only 5 so the new signs will work in the display base.
The new sign is not as good as the orginal but is still very colorful.
I have the original and it is one of my favorites. Have not seen teh new version so I have no idea what its like.
