Well, yes, I do like those. 
In any case, there are far more interesting diesels out there that haven't been done yet than this one .
If something is boring, just because it hasn't been done before isn't a good reason to buy it. Just my opinion, of course.

Septa bought them. They have taken delivery of a few.
There are 5 Amtrak paint Schemes.
600, 601 and 602 were all delivered with different schemes, then the standard scheme, and 642 Veterans.
Now plus Septa.
Marc has gone all diesel, I believe, and NJT has gone for the ALP46 and the dual mode units.
The way to look at it is to slide tool this so you can make a Eurosprinter and ACS64 with the same base tooling.

Sorry, but "one of" nay sayers neglect to see the repeated production of things like the AEM7, Amfleet cars, Superliners.

Their trend has not been to add new tooling. MTH wont even paint the rest of the 1970s autotrain consist that they started with the car carriers on existing models. I am moving to custom painting rather than wait 48 years for MTH to make something.
This is what Bachmann is offering in roads right now. These are HO of course. I think the veterans unit looks sharp!

The first HHP-8 by Lionel was horrible. I returned mine after much ado. Mike Reagan sold me a second version with TMCC and upgraded motors while I was at a Canfield Lionel openhouse. That loco has been great. I wish I had a MARC Rail version
Bachmann has made all these in O scale for the Williams line from HO and N scale models so my money would be on WBB to spring for the ACS-64 tooling first. We’ll see.

Maybe someone will make a 3D model and people can power it themselves. Then you wont need MTH or Lionel.
