anyone owns a 3rd rail PRR S1 or Q2 duplex?

thanks for posting that pennsyk4..I could make a tape template and draw it up while it on the nose of my S1 untape it carefully and retape it on thin brass that I have..and cut this thin brass with scissors..

its because of there so called rod as a spring for the front truck is a joke!..id put a stronger coil spring and that solved that proublem.

 Just dragged out my Q2 and have it running around my Fastrack 060 curves with no problems! I gave it a little lube job and its running fine. Need to fix the headlight. Al

hi i am an mth premier fans i haven't seen no problem with my diecast and i honestly don't really have no clues why these peoples in there talking about brass are better well actually it could be good but i'm not going to say negative things mth are realy great model i have these mth for very long amout of times never had a problem i don't know where these words coming from i only know if someone doesn't take good care of it then yes it will break but i never had a problem lionel were made in chinese too

the main reason why i more likely the mth premier is because i rember when i first purchased the y-3 lionel from the dealer store and bought it for $1,499.00 and brought it home i was so happy then pulled out of the box and then put it on the track and then the train wouldn't run good for me got me upset and then i picked the train up side down as to make sure if it need a oil or grease then i add little then put it back on the track still rusted out on me then took it to back to the train shop they had checked everything and add a new batteries and found out the motor was garbage and i said it new i purchase it brand new got upset so the dealer told me to return my money i accept it then bought another lionel big boy  and about week later the wheel came off i wasn't too happy with lionel then i swamp it to mth had no problem fell in love with mth premier they're beauty and beast so i am not puting negative against the lionel iam saying how it was for me i know i have been mth fans now my typical train in my life is mth premier wink don't get mad at me lol it who i am mth are great and beautiful

I myself still a fan of MTH's railking trains and some premier trains in the past and had few of them with die-casting blisters on the boilers.  I still have MTH realtrax and Z4000 and they work well with my Sunset 3rd steamer as the key here is good track work as i learned that from my H.O. days.  As far as i know the Brass Sunset 3rd is better in terms of "3D" lost wax casting details where some of the die-cast steamers do have SOME "3D" details but mostly cast on details so that's where the Sunset 3rd shines. There's nothing wrong with die-cast steamers and if it makes you happy then that's all it matters.  BTW welcome aboard,I am glad there are more women joining this forums as i been here a few years now and it is a great place to share ideas, getting help and meeting new folks.

bet because you never owned brass before....plus this forum is for 3rd rail brass = sunset model train co...Brass train are way better detailed then diecast...to me runs smoother too..
