The 642 reefers were part of the K-Line "Classic" product line up which was K-Line speak for a "traditional" size or sub-scale O gauge toy train.  K-Line described their Classic products this way.

The K-LINE® O Gauge Classics continue to offer the best, highest quality cars, at the best value in the O and O-27 Gauge market.

The 642 reefers seem like they might be scale from the description which includes a length of 10 1/4 inches.  However, the 700 series freight cars are described as 11 1/2 inches long.  The measurements are over the couplers, not the body of the car.

The 752 (diecast) and 762 (plastic) reefers are 40 scale feet long but not well detailed.

The K-Line 742 wood reefer is a very good O scale model. The K742-2111 is shown below.  If I came across one I would buy a 742 or the K-Line by Lionel follow on cars.
