I have a question Steve. Will these "new improved" 2 rail trucks fit Weaver cars or only the redesigned Lionel cars?
i don't understand all the negativity towards Weaver trucks. I have never had a problem with them in either 2 rail or 3. True the cars themselves were underweighted but at least for boxcars that is very easily fixed with stick on weights. I added enough weight to bring the car up to NMRA specs and I had no problems with it whatsoever. Again in both 2 rail and 3.
I am hoping that Lionel will start offering custom cars for clubs, using the Weaver dies. My club used to do a yearly car through Weaver. Before Weaver shut down we had some planned using the PS-1 boxcar, single sheathed wood side boxcar, and the wood reefer.

I too was surprised to read that Weaver trucks were unloved by somebody. I sure wish I'd had advance notice and could have gotten my pink paws on more of them, especially the archbars.
How would these look next to a LionChief Plus engine? Say a NW2 or a GP38?

My LC+ NW2 looks great pulling scale PS-1's, also, plan on pulling scale size rolling stock with the shortly to be released LC+ 0-4-0's. I have a few of the Lionel scale size hoppers on order.

in the catalog it shows a single car cost - yet can't find any single car pricing on any of the major train sites - is it possible that any retailer has the cars as single items?

My local hobby shop, Engine House Hobbies, had a few single cars of the B&O and Chessie hoppers last weekend. One of the Chessie cars followed me home....

I know the LHS I deal with, The Imperial Train Company, was selling the LionScale cars separately.

Fortunately I recently picked up an ABA set for D&RG. Those and my Galloping Geese are my only non Steam engines. Now to convert them to Command Control...

This is a pretty good site. Seems like the hopper is 50's production.

The PS-2-CD 4740 3-bay covered hoppers have been delivered to Muffin's Trains. I got a 6-Car set in the past week.
