i recently purchased a used Atlas #6808-2 WM SD-35 at York. Unfortunately there was no instruction manual included with the engine. So I checked Atlases web site for a manual but couldn’t find one there. What I found when I found the engine listed on the web site it said it was equipped with smoke and Engineer on Board in addition to TMCC. However when I look at the engine I don’t see a smoke unit or a on/off switch. And since I’m unfamiliar with Engineer on Board can anyone tell me how it works and how to set it up. There isn’t a on/off switch for that either. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

David

Hi David,

Atlas O made several runs of the SD35's.

If yours does not have the smoke on/off switch and a crusie on/off switch then it is not equipped with it.

EOB is just the Old Train America TMCC based board with Cruise.  Would act like any other engine with TMCC and Cruise.  Even if it was listed with all this your going to have to open it up to be sure.  Many used engine are gutted at times when they fail.

I even had a TMCC engine for repair that was used.  No sound or control with TMCC.  Turns out some one removed the R2LC and both sound boards and stuck the modular E unit board in place of the R2LC.  So it was conventional only with no sound.  Owner thought he was buying a TMCC engine.  G

I have the same WM SD35 #6808-2 from year 2000. Despite being detailed in appearance, it does not have any cool features like operating smoke and I don't think the vent fans spin. Because it's TMCC, you can use Lionel Legacy Cab remote. I have the Cab-2. It's important to note that you have to change the setting to TMCC first, assign the engine number, and press setup. I had my engine for 23 years and still runs good. The length looks more like Railking size next to my CSX premier engine.
