My PC is connected to my home internet via ethernet.

I downloaded and successfully installed the Base3 system utility on my PC.

Can someone point me to instructions for connecting my Base3 (on my home Wi-Fi network or the Base3's (AP) network) to the Base3 system utility on my PC.

I remember reading that this came be done but not sure where I saw it.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Stan

Scroll down to the section: Join to Network Mode (without WPS), it's probably the surest to get you connected using the B3SU program.  After that, you're going to want to go into your router's configuration and set a DHCP reservation for that IP address for the BASE3.  That will insure it's always at that IP address and you won't have to keep finding where it is.

I've been using the LCS WiFi with this same configuration technique since I got it, it's great.

Maybe I didn't phrase the question clearly:

I'll try again:

Without installing a W-Fi adapter to my PC, how do I connect to the Base3 with my PC that does not have Wi-Fi but is on the same network as the Wi-Fi just connected to it by the ethernet cable plugged into the router?

Thanks!!

Yes, you can connect a PC to the Base 3 without a Wi-Fi card in your PC.    I just did it the other day with my PC on the 3rd floor connecting to the Base3 in the basement and my PC (a desktop pc) is only Ethernet connection.

When you open the LSU, just go up to the top and click the Configure\Communications menu.

You can try and Search for the IP address, but it may not find it.  Easiest way is to connect your phone to the Base3, open the app to the CAB3 settings page and see what IP address it is connecting to.   Then simply type that into the screen on your PC and click OK and it will connect.

The only reason you would need to have a PC with a WiFi connection, if you typically run in network mode, is if you are doing a firmware upgrade on Base3 from the B3SU.  A firmware upgrade requires Base3 to be in AP mode for a firmware update.  That's why in most cases it's probably easier to upgrade via the App.

As Sean and John pointed out in daily tasks you just have to have the PC be on the same network as the Base3 regardless of whether you are connected over WiFi or cabled.

Thanks @MartyE @Sean's Train Depot & @gunrunnerjohn :

I followed your instructions and just connected to my Base3 using the Base3 System Utility from my PC that is connected to my router via ethernet!

The missing link for me was needing to run the configure option on the B3SU and my Base3 was found on my network and I now can see all information entered!

Amazing products Lionel! Thanks @Dave Olson for creating this great system!

Thank You Sean!

I've been beating my head against the wall for a week now trying to get my Base3 Utility to connect to internet and Base3 together. Getting the address from the connected Cab3 as you suggested, WORKED.

Now with that distraction gone I can concentrate on getting other things done.
