Don’t know if others missed this like I did first time through.  But on pages 72 and 73 there is a pair of Pennsy X31C’s, Double-Door Round Roof Box cars.  Last catalog when the X31A was introduced it became the talk.  At that time as I recall many opined their wish for the double-door version.  The thread on what members will be ordering, only one other was ordering these beauties.

Is no one else interested?

Yes I'm in on these. In the post war years, Gordon Varney had an HO version as a plastic kit. Varney was the only manufacturer to do a version of this car untill Bowser did it in HO many years later . The LIonel car will be a nice addition to your O gauge rolling stock.

Note also that the Santa Fe Reefer set is and additional set to the one listed in the prior catalogue. There are new numbers and additional train slogans offerred to the original.

In the last catalog, Lionel mentioned in the blurb for the single door round roofs that the double door versions would come soon, too.  I'm pretty sure that's when 3rd Rail deep-sixed their plans for their versions.

As for other boxcars, we still don't have a good 6 panel single sheathed ARA boxcar.  The Weaver tooling is ancient and from what I can gather, it doesn't follow a prototype. There's also the 1937 AAR Modified Boxcar.  Protocraft is doing these in 2 rail brass:

A 3 rail model up to the level of Lionel's PS-1 would be welcome.
