Tim,
I don't think any of the forum sponsors are in Columbus. Check the listings and you will find a ton of great shops. I can't find it but there was a link to find train shops in a geographic location. I hope someone has that for you.
Robbies Hobbies, 4578 North High street is very good.
Another hour and a half drive and you can be at Dixie Union Station in Mason, Ohio too.
We have an interactive dealer locator on our web site. CLICK HERE and enter a Columbus area zip code, like 43216.
The OGR Dealer Locator sees 2 shops on the north side of Columbus, another in London, OH and another in Lancaster, OH.
Uh, l think the guy in Lancaster, who once offered interesting structure kits, sold out and retired. The Blue Caboose and several others in or near Columbus have joined the dinosaurs. London is small but did several custom Atlas reefer runs. One on north is mostly HO, other mostly used. Others?

Blue Caboose is not in the locator, so why mention them here?
The Train Station and Robbies Hobbies are both in the locator, and they are both open and active in O scale.
When l was last at Smoke Stack it was sold out to the walls, for l was asking after one of the old kits he offered. Did somebody buy the name and resurrect it, or is this like one of those MR ads where the ads were paid ahead and run on after they bulldoze the building? If still there, reincarnated, l will visit. Not sure if Robbie's Hobbies is the mostly used Lionel dealer on the north side of town? I gave up on most of them except for one on the NW, mostly HO and N, but can have structure material.
The Lancaster store is open and well-stocked with O gauge trains and accessories both new and used.
Somebody bought that store! Where is it?
342 Lincoln avenue.
