I am thinking of purchasing a premier J that is PS2 and I am wondering if the sound sets are different, and, if so, can the new (PS3) sound set be loaded into a PS2?

I have heard the sounds are better.

Is it due to improved sound sets or better speakers?

Yes, I know very little about sound sets and loading them off the computer.

Here is a reply I got from Barry a while back after asking about the different sound files. Maybe it will be of some assistance.

The "rules" for swapping sound files are:
· You can put a 5 volt PS2 file only in a 5 volt PS2 engine
· You can put a 3 volt PS2 file in a 3 volt PS2 engine, or in a PS3 engine
· You can put a PS3 file only in a PS3 engine
· You cannot put a PS3 file in any PS2 engine (3 volt or 5 volt).

It's exactly like RTR12 said that I said...

One additional caveat is that some 3 volt PS2 sound files are 1 Meg in size and others are 2 Meg. In order for a 2 Meg 3 volt sound file to go into a 3 volt PS2 engine, the 3 volt engine must have a 2 Meg 3 volt board.
