I've purchased an new MTH 4-6-2 steam locomotive. I went through the procedure to add the engine right after I got it, everything worked as it should. I packed it back up as we are getting ready to move. However I have a fellow train fan who asked to see it. I got it set up on the track and proceeded to start it up and nothing happen. Shut power off, cleaned track, again nothing. Voltmeter connected to track reads 16V A/C. Deleted engine from DCS and tried to re-add it and get "No engine to add". Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks for your time.

David,
It would be beneficial if you could tell us the MTH item number on the engine box and what version of Proto-Sound it has. Once that info is known, the guru's on OGR will be able to make some recommendations to help you get the engine running again.
By new engine. I’m assuming it’s a Proto 3. Make sure the drawbar or tether are fully seated. Are you placing it in the same area you did when you originally added it ?
Are you using a remote or phone to address the engine ? If it’s coming up silent when power is put to the layout. It is seeing the DCS signal. if no luck still. I’d set up a programming track and take the variables of the layout out of the equation. At least to get it added.
Make sure the DCS/DCC switch is FIRMLY set to DCS if it has one. Could have been moved even slightly while packing/unpacking. I move them to DCC and then back to DCS to be sure they are set correctly.
Tony
try testing it without any DCS signal on the rails.
Thank you all for your help. Tony V gets the nod. The DCS/DCC switch must have got bumped while unpacking it was in between the two selections. It added to the DCS without a problem.
