Can't get sound to turn on

Almost sounds like you have a speaker disconnected if everything else works just fine. Is it still under warranty?

Are you using TMCC or Legacy?

Is it still in the train or running as an engine?

Marty, it’s running as an engine although I was able to successfully doubleheaded with a matching unit

It’s brand new out of the box. Of course I realize I can ship it back, but I’d rather see if there’s just some setting that needs to be adjusted.

I also try to avoid shipping it back haha but I'm less likely to tell you to open it up if it's under warranty. I think I met you at the NMRA meet in Weirton so I wouldn't even be against looking at it for you since I assume you're in the Pittsburgh area. But again, that's a less appealing option if it's under warranty.

@PRRMiddleDivision was this locomotive the lead in the doubleheader? Or was it trailing? 

@MartyE is there a chance the other locomotive came out of the lash-up but this one didn't? It seems like a reset would fix that.

Have you tried removing it from that train?  Basically clear that train from the CAB2?  Might be something in the Train Build that's holding it up in ENG mode.

I would expect even running as a train that the prime mover sounds would be active.

Personally I would have tried the Bluetooth Lionchief app since you have access to volume controls there in display form and could possibly see even more than you might using a CAB2.

It's just seems to me- the basics:

#1 try conventional

#2 try Bluetooth

#3 try resets

#4 Last resort- send to the big "L"

All  good suggestions. I will try them.

I honestly feel stupid even asking. i've used TMCC for years and was always pretty good at understanding it and getting it to work. But it just seems they have added so many new features and nuances that you cannot keep track of them all. That's why when I built my layout, it did it the old fashioned way...toggle switch block and turnout control. I use old fashioned relays to detect the trains, and relay logic to operate the signals,  JUST LIKE THE PROTOTYPE did in those days!  NO COMPUTERS or anything hi-tech. It has worked flawlessly for almost 25 years, and lets me focus on enjoying the hobby, not dealing with problems. Anyhow, I'll shut up now and try out all of your suggestions. Thanks.

with regard to reprogramming it I did but there seem to be two different sets of instructions one that came with the cat one and then one that came with a cab to and the cab one L does anyone have the proper re-programming instructions for this particular engine and I will give it another shot.

I will try to dig up my Cab1L paperwork tonight when I get home but I can't even begin to thing of where I left it.

Programming a modern Legacy locomotive is dirt simple.

• Turn the PGM/RUN switch to PGM, put it on the tracks and power up.
• Press ENG, ##, SET.
• Turn the PGM/RUN switch to RUN.

I assume by ## you mean the number of the engine.

Correct, forgot to add that ## is the 01 to 98 TMCC ID.  Don't use 00 or 99.

John, after I reread your message and looked at my post, I realize I said the wrong thing I should’ve said reset, not program it. do you have the current instructions for resetting an engine as I said above the ones I have with my cab, one and cab two or not exactly the same

For newer Legacy with the RCMC or LCP2 &LCP3 boards, a "reset" is just reprogramming the TMCC ID.  There is no other "reset".
