I would love to see a parts maker offer a Canadian cab as an aftermarket add on. Maybe a 3D print offering. I would love to make an accurate Providence and Worcester engine.
Nobody wants any roadnames from Canada....
Not interested in Canadian Road names.
Love Canadian road names! Would be very pleased to have more.
Kaslo Shops did a wide cab Canadian Body kit have one.
And others on the forum have done up models with the kit.
Here is a link showing the kit;

MTH, Lionel, Williams have all done some nice Canadian Road names for engines in the past. MTH has some VIA engines in the current catalogue.

I'll second that. Unless they are models of Canadian steam locomotives, as MTH and Sunset/3rd Rail have offered.

I love Canadian locomotives. Canada has some very serious train guys. I have always been a fan. The people who make trains know the Boys from Canada are spenders.
Not from Canada, but would love to see more Canadian locomotives! I see a good bit of CP, and CN power in Pennsylvania. Even saw a BC Rail locomotive a few times.

Not really, as there are already three of us that posted, "no". Since the Canadian road diesel locomotives generally appear "different" than anything else in the U.S., it must be more difficult for model manufacturers to produce prototypically correct Canadian locomotive models. Then there is always the "lack of market demand" to contend with.

The problem the Canadian guys from Canada have is that they are dealing with MTH, Lionel, etc., prices that are in U.S. dollars, so with all the complaints we hear about the costs of O scale here in the U.S. , it's compounded up North. I'm a big Canadian railway aficionado, living in the U.S..
I would like Canadian engines. Always been interested.
Jason at Rapido Trains is doing some in HO.

What are you saying? I don't understand.
Mac you are not alone. Trust me you are not.
Yeah, there's only 60 million of us, so the 3-rail O-gauger niche in the population that finds US$ pricing affordable must be a pretty low number. We're not worth the tooling-up.
Mind you, if somebody came up with a GMD GF6C...........

I would love to see some, too.
The M420W is one good looking loco that screams "I mean business". With less than 100 reported prototypes made for the North American market it may be a tough sell for the big boys to make since they can't slap every class 1's paint scheme on it and keep selling more and more editions. That said, the CN and BC Rail paint schemes are awesome and sure would get my money to further your cause. Good luck!!
"...Kaslo Shops did a wide cab Canadian Body kit."
Yes they did. That was the project I commissioned with them about 10 years ago. Every show I did with the Independent Hirailers, people would ask me what manufacturer made my CN units and were they still available. The kits are really nice, but they are a LOT of work install and paint.
I'm sure if Lionel, MTH or Atlas did the GP40-2LW, which has many possible road names (see below), some not even canadian, they'd sell out the run. CN is a major player in the states and you still see these units all the time.
Atlas, and I believe now Lionel, use a modular tooling concept that allows them to do things like high and low hood locos, as well as other things like dynamic and non-dynamic brakes, e..t.c. All they'd have to do is tool up the parts included in my kit and they'd get a brand new offering, never done in O, for a lot less than tooling up a whole new locomotive.
I still think 3rd Rail is probably our best bet. They have smaller production runs and the projects must be pre-ordered before they begin. They'd be pretty pricey though. That's the trade off, and I for one would be willing to pay it. What would be the harm in seeing if enough people were interested? If Scott didn't get enough orders, then they don't get made. No problem.
These are some of the GP40-2LW that Atlas did in HO
CN
Guilford
Huron Central - NECR
PanAmRailways
Vermont Railways
And you could do these too:
Kansas City Southern:
Rail America
SD50f and SD40-2F "red barns" would be a great 3rd Rail project.
Right now, mine could sure use an electronics upgrade with some kind of speed control, but that would be a nasty task as I'd practically have to disassemble them to get the shell off, and since they're one of a kind units, I'd rather not run the risk.
Lionel, MTH, Atlas, 3rd Rail. I don't care, I just want some.
When I was into "O" there was many Canadian prototypes, that I would have been genuinely interested in purchasing. Now that I'm into HO, I already have 6 Canadian Cab units: 2 from Atlas HO, 2 from InterMountain and 2 from Athearn Genesis; soon, an AG SD40-2F will become available and a Rapido Canadian Dash8-40CM.
I'm glad the "3" naysayers, here, speaking for "everyone " in O, aren't in my sandbox; we don't need or want that type of negativity...

Rapido is making HO GMD-1's in both 4-axle and 6-axle. I would eagerly preorder 2 from 3rd Rail or whomever in O scale. In addition to larger road units.

I disagree. Rapido and True Line Trains are Canadian manufacturers making Canadian HO and N scale trains and doing just fine. The market for O scale Canadian locomotives would be smaller, but I suspect there are American modelers who would want Canadian locos, especially those modeling the modern era. Lots of Canadian power running south of the border these days.
It's a market thing!
Make a warbonnet anything . . . sell a tonne!
Make a CP anything . . . sell a half dozen!
Hard to fight against "market forces!"
Still hoping the 3-rd Rail CP 1800 series E8s get made! Won't quite believe until they arrive at my door! That the warbonnets get made? Never a doubt!
There are times I regret going O-scale. Canada has always had, relatively speaking, a vibrant HO market of Canadian road name stuff. O-scale Canadian stuff? Well . . . "not so much, eh?"
Here in Albany we see CP all the time.
I have CP, CN, and VIA models from Lionel and mth, always lookng for more.
I don't understand why some feel only Canadians would buy them? It is a big world.eh?
My big surprise was when I saw an ebay listing for a Sunset 3-rd Rail CP Selkirk.
Seller would not ship to Canada!

I am still trying to figure out how I can make one from a post-war 736 (and then run it on 0-31 track!).
I still have all sorts of Canadian rolling stock, from all eras. Sadly, I've sold all of my engines. I've always liked Canadian railroading.
I'm thinking of building a narrow, shelf-type, switching layout along two walls in my home office. I used to own a Vision Line NS Genset ... it was the best running switcher I have ever owned. If Lionel does more Gensets ... I'm hoping for ....
There are 7 class 1 railroads in NA and 2 of them are Canadian. And those 2 have a significant presence in the USA.
I think the modern Canadian diesels do have appeal because they are distinct from their U.S. counterparts. However, most of the latest Canadian diesels were built in the U.S.A. and some the distinctions are gone like marker lights, tear drop windshields and rock pilots, i.e., ES44 and SD70M-2.

Oh, I hate that!
I don't understand why some Americans won't ship internationally. I have shipped all over the world with no problems.
