Components needed for TMCC/LEGACY operation

If you are going to use the Powermaster bridge, you cannot use the TMCC1 base.  It's one or the other, not both.  The TMCC base and Power master bridge both utilize the same connection from the 990.  If you get a Legacy Powermaster you could then use the "Y" cable that came with the 990 to connect to the TMCC1 base.  The Legacy Powermaster will get it's command via the track signal.

I have been buying items through the years, and am just figuring out what works w/what I have or if I need to buy other items.  Bottom line is I need to purchase a Legacy Powermaster???  My TMCC1 base can't be hooked to 990 w/Y cable & work?

If you are planning to use the Powermaster Bridge and the TMCC1 Powermaster, the TMCC 1 base cannot be used as they both use the same connection on the 9 pin Y cable.  The eaisest solution if  you want to use the TMCC base is to get a Legacy Powermaster if you want to vary the voltage to the track.  This will negate the need for the Powermaster Bridge and will let you use the 9 pin Y for the TMCC base.

The ZWL has 4 legacy powermasters built in it. No bridge no old powermaster and the cab1 base and legacy base can be hooked up together.

Gentlemen,

    Ron is correct, when he owns the ZW-L it changes the way he can set up using the programmable Channels, IMO it 's really the big reason to own a ZW-L, besides the massive power.  With the ZW-L and the Legacy 990 unit he is set, unless he wants to run DCS also.

I must be working too much.  I just saw Z4000.  Ron is correct.  The ZW-L makes this very simple.  Removes all the Powermasters and bridges.  You can absolutely use the "y" for the Cab 1 Base using a ZW-L to act as a Powermaster varying voltage to the tracks.  Good catch Ron.
