Boy, this was several hours of drilling, filing and fitting to hang these brakes. I had installed correct 36 inch pilot wheels sometime ago and had modified the K line brakes to fit, but really wanted these. Detailing is a journey. They seemed kind of low on the truck, but looking at Stauffers's book some hudsons had them in this location. Hot Water don't make me reposition them.

That is the "Engine Truck", and those would be the "Engine Truck Wheels".
Very nice job, and it sure adds a nice feature to the Engine Truck. Now, before everyone rushes out to add this feature to YOUR two axle Engine Truck, I suggest that you verify that the real steam locomotive's Engine Truck actually had brakes. Many two axle Engine Trucks did NOT have brakes.
Nick,
My point was that there are many other railroads, besides the New York Central, that owned steam locomotives with two axle Engine Trucks, that had NO brakes on those Engine Trucks.
Hot Water is correct. Quite a few locomotives with 4 wheel engine trucks do not have this type of brakes. For example the ATSF Hudson does not.
I built these because increasing the engine truck wheel diameter to a scale 36 inches, makes the K line part not fit.
My mistake, I thought we were just talking about the Hudsons.
Ron, I'm talking about the entire separate scale wheels engine truck K-Line made for those who wanted to replace the semi-scale truck. Would have saved you a bit of hassle if you don't mind the "pizza cutter" flanges like me. Here is one with the wheel faces painted and adapted to Lionel's J3a models:
