 Pretty simple really. First remove the shell. Then decide if you want the horn and lights to stay. If keeping the horn and lights clip the wires going to the motors and tape them off. Remove the screw going up thru the truck to remove the motor, the gears will still be on the truck, but the wheels should turn freely.  PS. if the locomotive is a 6 axle center blind unit I might have some dummy trucks that would fit.   B J

You'll have to mount the motor block back on after removing the motor, right?  If you just remove the motor screw on the bottom of the truck, the truck is loose.
