Hello,

After following the post regarding N&W coal hoppers and greatly appreciating all of those who contributed much valuable information, I wanted to ask the same question regarding C&O steam era coal hoppers.  I know that they have been done in brass, but those are expensive for those who would want a long string of them.  Have accurate C&O steam era coal hoppers been offered in plastic?

I agree with the poster in the N&W posting that with all of the N&W steam power available that there should be an accurate N&W steam era hopper.  There should also be an accurate C&O steam era hopper with all the C&O steam power available.

Thanks in advance,

Steve

I think either Atlas or Weaver has made wooden coal hoppers.  Doesn't get much more steam era than that.   I made a painstaking effort to collect a dozen of the 3 bay offset side hoppers from Weaver and they look great.  I found them one at a time from a variety of sources.   I'd have to check the built date on them, but I'm thinking they are at the end of the steam era - possibly early 50's.  The problem is, the C&O version has not been made for many years and I have not seen any on ebay in a long time.

I agree that it shouldn't be that hard to find steam era C&O or N&W hoppers.
