A couple of old farm boys stop to talk on their International & John Deere Tractors, while working with their covered hay wagon and empty manure spreader. Tin Plate has been rolling past a little to fast lately for these old boys liking.

I've got a similar scene. But the local authorites are a bit peeved at the John Deere owner, seems the steel wheels are adding to the pothole problem!
Steamer,
Dave I try to set little stuff like this up especially on my Christmas layouts. Tractor Supply has the miniature farm machinery that I like, it is getting a little more expensive now for some reason. Use to be about 1/2 the cost, and finding painted figures this small, for the Tractor seats is definitely getting harder, some of the old suppliers are gone now.

yeah it seems things are alway cheap until we find out about them!
Steamer,
Dave especially in the O gauge train world, there are definitely things I say nothing about, so when I go back to purchase certain items they are still there and do not cost me an arm & a leg.

Steamer,
One of the young boys going down to the grain fields with an new grain hauler, stops by on his big IH, and yells to the old men to stop griping about the trains, he needs to ride those quick Tin cars to see his girl friend on friday night.

Ya got to love this kind of stuff on your layout.
Steamer,
Where did you get that way cool horse drawn milk wagon? Is it metal or plastic?
Due you have a clearer picture of it, you can post?

Dave,
If you back up a little the camera will come into focus and the pictures will become clear. I thought that was one of the original pot metal Lledo pieces, man I even like it more now, with the dog in the seat!

it's hard to get good pics in my crappy basement, or it just might be the guy behind the camera!
Steamer,
Thanks for the great idea for my Tin Plate train layout, I will try to pick up a couple different cast Lledo horse drawn items in the near future. Really like the milk delivery wagon with the man and dog, and they are the right size to mix in with my layout.

well I'm not attatched to the cart...got a beat up 226E to swap?
Farm implements always look good on layouts of any type! It is difficult to find implements such as harrows, discs, and plows. It seems as though the spreader and wagons are about it in the 1940's-50's era.
Mikemike,
The old Marx farm set had the farm machinery, plows & such, however they were play toys for little boys, mostly plastic unpainted stuff, I remember playing with them as a boy. You are definitely right, the nice metal stuff is really hard to find, I am looking around to find just what you are talking about for my next Christmas layout.

If you find some let me know if it's not to much trouble. I spent quite a bit of time on a Farmall as a boy every summer on my uncles farms. That's where I learned the value and virtue of hard work. To me row crops as far as the eye can see is a beautiful thing. I want to incorporate plowed fields/crops somehow on my O gauge layout. The tractors are easy to locate.
Mikemike,
Punch up Marx farm sets on your computer, keep scrolling down and find a set that has the stuff you want in it.

Steamer,
Dave I found and ordered the milk wagon with the milk man & dog along with the Lipton Tea horse drawn double decker english bus today. Will take some pictures for you to see when they arrive, thanks for the idea buddy, a great addition to the Christmas Layout, I always appreciate your cool ideas.
PCRR/Dave
well that's great! glad you found one.
Dave,

Or just use the macro setting:

Dave, I found a 1 row corn picker in 1/43 scale at Outback Toys. I purchased it. I have looked here many times before in the last couple years and found nothing. They are still showing it in stock. Just thought I would let you know if interested.
Mikemike,
I may take a look at it later on, I review the Marx sight pretty much all the time, some time I want to recoup the complete farm set at a reasonable price.
Thanks
PCRR/Dave
