Hey guys.

I have been getting some questions pertaining to the Diesel Shop and interior access platforms that are shown in my layout article in the current issue of OGR, Run #255.

As one of the captions indicate, the building itself is a custom built model by Jim Robinson at Bridgeboss. Besides his excellent bridges and supports, he also provides the diesel shop. Jim will build to your specifications and I added a few details after I got mine like a few decals, HVAC units on the roof and a caged ladder at the rear. I also built a foundation around the perimeter to allow me to remove the building if necessary.

Here is Jim’s website:

The interior platforms are also custom units that were built by David Duhamel at Crescent Locomotive Works Inc. David builds a number of very nice wood structures along with these platforms. David built my platforms to the specifications I provided him and they turned out beautiful as the pictures below show.

Here is David’s website:

Both David and Jim are very friendly and talented guys to work with and I recommend you give them a call for any stock or custom work you may want built for your layout. I am also sure both of these guys hang out in the Orange hall at York in April and October.

That looks amazing. Can you answer a few questions about it for me? Did you put down k-line supper streets for track inside the diesel building? What do you need to create the right spacing between the two tracks ( looks lie you use fastrack like I do). Also about how much do one of these cost. I really want to order one, as I have been looking for something like this for some time. Thanks to any help. Derek
Hey Deekbears.

You asked the same question as a lot of others. Unfortunately, the track is not Superstreets. All of my track is Gargraves with ROSS switches. I achieved the look of Superstreets by filling in the gaps on the outside and between the rails with a combination of MDF and stripwood. I ripped the MDF on my tablesaw to the width and thickness I needed and supplemented with the scale wood. Then everything is painted grimy black.

The spacing between adjoining tracks is based on the size of the shop. This can be anywhere from 5" to 6". For my shop, it is 5 1/2" center to center of track.

I hope you understand, I do not like to discuss price on the OGR board. I am sure a quick look at the web sites posted or an email to Jim or David will get you the information you need. Hope that helps.

Hey Joe, that truck is by Sword Precision. They make a lot of very nice and detailed stuff.

Hey prr.

I think the platforms were shown on his enginehouse pictures. But, I may be wrong. Regardless, I did see them (or a pic) before I ordered (maybe at York?)

Mine are 1" wide by 18" long. I do not know if they will fit the IHC enginehouse. But, David will work with you on whatever size you want. I suggest to send him an email with your requests.

Hope that helps.

Donald
